Griffith Statement on Winter Storm Fern, State of Emergency

As Virginia communities prepare for Winter Storm Fern and following Governor Abigail Spanberger's State of Emergency declaration, U.S. Congressman Morgan Griffith (R-VA) issued the following statement:

"I encourage all communities in Virginia's Ninth District to sufficiently prepare for this weekend's ice and snowstorm. Our part of the state is expected to be hit as early as Saturday morning. Further, temperatures are expected to be extremely low. Single-digit temperatures are anticipated.

"Stock up on food. Have plans to be able to stay warm, even if that means spending a few days with friends and relatives. The predictions of both extremely low temperatures and a winter storm make this a potentially dangerous period.

"Make sure your loved ones take sufficient precautions and try to stay off the roads during and after the storm. Please continue tracking updates from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management as well as local officials."
