Barrett Hosts Fifth Interactive Town Hall With 14,700 Participants Across Mid-Michigan

Washington, D.C. - Tonight, Congressman Tom Barrett (MI-07) hosted a successful interactive town hall with more than 14,700 constituents from across Michigan's 7th Congressional District. This is Barrett's fifth interactive town hall since taking office, which has allowed him to connect with more than 34,000 constituents no matter where they are.

"My job is to be mid-Michigan's representative in Washington - not Washington's representative in mid-Michigan," said Barrett. "The best way I can do that is by hearing directly from the people I serve, and I've spent the summer on the road meeting with thousands of hardworking people to talk about real issues and hear their stories to help me do the real work back in Washington to improve their lives. I will keep fighting on behalf of every mid-Michigander to make our community safer, more prosperous, and a better place to raise a family."

During tonight's hour-long event, Barrett provided an update on his recent work in the House of Representatives, including his votes and legislation to limit the military conflict in Iran. He also spoke about his recent travels throughout the district to hear directly from families, business owners, farmers, workers, and more about the issues that matter to them.

The congressman also took questions on a wide range of issues, including his stance on the USS Abraham Lincoln, data centers, North Korea, Medicaid, and more.

BACKGROUND:

In the last 4 weeks, Barrett has traveled throughout Michigan's 7th District to meet with constituents from all walks of life. He has visited dozens of locations across mid-Michigan, including local businesses, hospitals, colleges, factories, farms, and more.

The congressman has also responded to more than 148,000 phone calls, emails, and letters from constituents since taking office, on top of the many people from mid-Michigan he meets with each and every week. Barrett remains committed to hearing directly from his constituents, even those who disagree.
