Sept. 25, 2025 ― DENTON ― Total enrollment at Texas Woman's grew by slightly above 1% in fall 2025 to 15,424, paced in part by a 4% gain in graduate student enrollment. Graduate students make up about 36% of TWU's total enrollment.
Also, the number of semester credit hours students are enrolled in grew 3.2%, from 150,987 to 155,845. The gain indicates students are taking larger academic course loads, which helps shorten the time to graduation.
Additionally this fall, the percentage of incoming students earning merit scholarships was 50.6%, up from 48.1% in 2024. And the university reported 1,499 first-time-in-college (FTIC) students, the second-largest incoming class in the university's history. In 2024, the university reported a record 1,589 FTIC students.
"The increase in the number of merit scholars is directly attributable to a program the university launched in 2021 to provide more scholarships to high-achieving high school students, which means Texas Woman's is recruiting and enrolling more of Texas' brightest students," said Javier Flores, TWU's vice president for enrollment management.
The university also reported the first-year persistence rate in the FTIC class from 2024 rose 7% over the prior year's cohort, marking the highest first-year persistence rate among incoming students since 2016.
The data highlights TWU's census day report, which was taken on the 12th day of fall classes.
