Dunwoody seeks input on Village Crossing

Dunwoody, GA - February 12, 2026 - The City of Dunwoody invites the community to attend a Public Information Open House (PIOH) for the proposed Village Crossing Project, a long-term investment in mobility and streetscape improvements in the heart of Dunwoody. The 0.8-mile project, stretching from Womack Road/Ashford Center Parkway to Roberts Drive, aims to create a safer, more walkable, and bike-friendly corridor with upgraded streetscape elements and operational improvements.

The Open House will be held at Vintage Pizzeria, 5510 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3. This informal, drop-in meeting will allow attendees to view proposed designs, speak with the project team, and provide verbal, written, or online comments.

"Village Crossing is a long-term investment in the future of Dunwoody Village," said Dunwoody Public Works Director Michael Smith. "By improving mobility and enhancing the streetscape, we're creating a corridor that better serves residents today and supports the community's vision for tomorrow."

The Village Crossing Project supports the City's long-term goals for walkability, bicycle access, and placemaking as outlined in the 2020-2040 Comprehensive Plan and the Dunwoody Village Master Plan, updated in 2021. The project is currently in the preliminary design phase, and the City is seeking public feedback on the proposed concepts.

Key proposed features include:

  • A second northbound left-turn lane at the intersection of Chamblee Dunwoody and Mount Vernon Road
  • Separated, one-way cycle tracks (5 feet wide) on both sides of the roadway
  • Wider sidewalks (6-8 feet) with street trees, decorative lighting, benches, and bus shelters
  • Raised and landscaped medians in select locations
  • Intersection upgrades at Roberts Drive

The City has received $6 million in federal funding for construction and $1.85 million for design. Preliminary design and environmental studies are currently underway. Construction is anticipated to begin in Winter 2029.
