NMiF examines fentanyl in ABQ, Roswell incident and civil rights

This week, New Mexico in Focus examines Albuquerque's fentanyl crisis, in the wake of last month's news that the federal government allowed thousands of pills to hit the city's streets. Executive Producer Jeff Proctor talks with frontline workers from Albuquerque Health Care for the Homeless about their work and how the DEA's tactics could impact the city's most vulnerable population.

The proposed acquisition of TXNM Energy - the parent company of PNM, the state's largest electric provider - by private equity giant Blackstone hit a snag this month. Host Nash Jones breaks down how a stock sale made last year between the two companies could at least temporarily delay the takeover.

For the second straight year, the Rio Grande has run dry in Albuquerque. Senior Producer Lou Divizio sat down with Hannah Riseley-White, director the Interstate Stream Commission, to discuss the river's dire state.

A group of pre-law undergraduates at The University of New Mexico has examined the infamous 1947 Roswell incident for constitutional violations. Recent graduate Tatiana James and senior Caden Salazar were among those who presented their findings at an online seminar hosted by UNM, along with New Mexico's state library, the Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Museum of Space History. Host Nash Jones spoke with the pair about their work, how the U.S. government handles classified information, and when civil liberties can be pushed aside in the name of national security.
