Tajani in Anzio and Nettuno for the 82nd Anniversary of the Allied Landing

Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani will take part today in the commemorations in Anzio and Nettuno marking the 82nd anniversary of the Allied landing on the Lazio coast (Operation Shingle).

Tajani will pay tribute to the military and civilian victims of an operation that contributed decisively to the outcome of the Second World War in Italy.

Operation Shingle, in fact, embodied the determination to liberate a country in deep crisis following the armistice of 8 September 1943 and under occupation.

The commemorations will be structured as follows:

10:00 a.m. - official commemorative ceremony, with addresses by Mayor Lo Fazio and Minister Tajani, at the War Memorial in Piazza Garibaldi (Anzio);
11:30 a.m. - second part of the commemorations in Nettuno, Piazza Cesare Battisti;
1:00 p.m. - commemoration of the fallen at the Nettuno American Cemetery.
