ATLANTA (August 10, 2026) - Senate President Pro Tempore Larry Walker III (R-Perry) has been recognized by the Association County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) with a 2026 Legislative Service Award for his leadership during the 2026 legislative session and his commitment to strengthening partnerships between the state and Georgia's counties.
The ACCG Legislative Service Awards program recognizes members of the Georgia General Assembly who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and collaboration on issues impacting county governments and local communities across the state.
During the 2026 legislative session, President Pro Tempore Walker worked closely with ACCG and county officials on several key legislative priorities, including Senate Bill 33, which established a more sustainable statewide approach to property tax reform while providing meaningful relief for Georgia homeowners. He also carried House Bill 1344, which streamlined insurance premium tax reporting requirements by allowing counties to utilize existing reporting processes. Throughout the session, President Pro Tempore Walker and his office maintained an open dialogue with county leaders to ensure local perspectives were considered as legislation moved through the General Assembly.
"I'm honored to receive ACCG's Legislative Service Award and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside Georgia's county leaders," said President Pro Tempore Walker. "Strong counties are essential to a strong Georgia, and the best public policy is developed when state and local officials work together to solve problems and serve the people we represent. I appreciate ACCG's partnership throughout the legislative process, and I look forward to continuing our work to strengthen communities across every corner of our state."
"For more than a decade, ACCG has honored members of the General Assembly through our Legislative Service Awards program," said ACCG Executive Director Dave Wills. "This awards program serves as a way for us to express our gratitude to legislators for their efforts during the session, while emphasizing the importance of collaboration between state and local officials."
The Association County Commissioners of Georgia is Georgia's county association, representing county officials through legislative advocacy, leadership development and programs that support effective local government. ACCG established its Legislative Service Awards program to recognize members of the General Assembly who have made significant contributions to advancing policies that benefit Georgia's counties.
