Congressional Black Caucus Statement on Sham Censure Against Rep. Ilhan Omar

Today, Congressional Black Caucus Chair Yvette D. Clarke (NY-09) and members of the Congressional Black Caucus issued the following statement:

"The censure resolution filed by Rep. Nancy Mace against Rep. Ilhan Omar was a sham built on a false accusation about comments Rep. Omar simply never made.

"The Congressional Black Caucus stands in support of Rep. Omar, who, since coming to Congress, has repeatedly used her platform to condemn hate and denounce political violence - regardless of party affiliation or ideology. Violence has no place in our politics. Rep. Omar has made that clear time and again - and Rep. Mace knows that perfectly well.

"This censure resolution was nothing more than a brazen, opportunistic attack by Rep. Mace, intended to single out and gin up right-wing anger against another member of Congress. Enough is enough."
