The successful business was founded in 1979 in Pittsburg by Phil and John Minton, both of whom attended Pitt State, and now operates multiple locations in Kansas.
This one-time initiative is focused on supporting local kids and families, ensuring students have access to something as simple and important as a quality pair of shoes.
"This is something we're really excited about," said Director of Athletics Anthony Crespino. "There are kids right here in our community who need this, and it is the right thing to do, to be able to step in and help. It's a simple thing, but it can make a big difference."
The partnership brings together two organizations with strong ties to the Pittsburg community and a shared commitment to giving back in a meaningful way. Over the years, Jock's Nitch has partnered with their alma mater in countless ways, including community campaigns and student projects.
"We appreciate Jock's Nitch being willing to be part of this with us," Crespino said. "At the end of the day, it's about taking care of people in our community, and this is a great way to do that."
Distribution of the shoes will be coordinated with local school districts to ensure they reach students who need them most.
