WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Congressman Cleo Fields released a statement regarding the ongoing Louisiana v. Callais Supreme Court case and reaffirms theconstitutionality of Louisiana's 6th Congressional District:
"While the deliberation of this case is underway, the constitutionality of Louisiana's 6th Congressional District remains intact. This map has already undergone extensive judicial scrutiny and stands on a strong legal foundation. What matters most is that voters in Louisiana, particularly communities that have historically been marginalized, have equal representation. The court must be deliberate, equitable, and grounded in the law, not rushed by political pressure.
At the end of the day, fair representation is not about speed; it's about ensuring that all constituents are given the voice that they deserve in our legislature.
I remain confident that the law, facts, and principles of equal and fair representation are on solid ground."
