The Epoch of Madness Main Quest

[Link]

Disaster is everywhere in the Sharval Wilds. After the loss of his twisted paradise, Albrecht leads legions of new Shardborne through the populous areas of Entsteig. His ally, the fallen necromancer Lethes, is once again seeking ancient power in the tomb of a dead king.

In "The First and Last King," main quest, the battle for the hearts and minds of the Sharval Wilds draws to its dramatic conclusion. There are new monsters to fight and two new subzones to explore.

The Entsteig Bailey is the besieged outer courtyard of Sharval's capital; the Barrow Tombs of Aughild are a dark sanctum where the bones of Entsteig's greatest king-and his mightiest warriors - rest.

[Link]

With these two new subzones, you'll also get new bounties and new wanted Monsters, bringing a completed Sharval up to par with prior zones as a place to kill monsters and farm some loot!

In this final chapter of the Epoch of Madness, the story of the Worldstone draws to a close, but a new saga is on the horizon. As we look to 2026 and beyond. Deckard Cain's prophesized Age of Doom, or what he called the End of Days, is drawing closer… Will you be ready?

Protect yourself with new Ancient Legendary Items

[Link]

From the shadowed recesses of Sanctuary's forgotten vaults, artifacts of unimaginable strength have stirred. Five Ancient Legendary Chest items, once thought only myth, now await those brave enough to claim their power.

These storied armaments are unlike any you have encountered. Each chest piece bears three pre-determined Magic Affixes, etched into its essence by forces beyond mortal comprehension, and a fourth random class Affix.

Crafting Ancient Legendaries: Once players reach Paragon level 1200 and unlock Inferno X, they can obtain Ancient Artifacts of the corresponding difficulty level from Helliquary Raids, Daily Quests, and Daily Dungeon Rewards. Collecting 100 Ancient Artifacts allows you to craft one Ancient Legendary piece of equipment at the Blacksmith.

Obtaining Ancient Legendaries in the Wild: Once players reach Paragon level 1200 and unlock Inferno X, they have a very low chance of directly obtaining Ancient Legendary equipment of the corresponding difficulty level as a drop in game modes such as Helliquary Raids, Helliquary Gauntlets, Vanguard, Hellslayer Bounties, Oblivion Pillars, and Terror Rifts.

The Future of Ancient Legendary Equipment

In the future, we plan to continue introducing types of Ancient Legendary equipment slots. However, each time a new slot is added, the oldest slot will be removed simultaneously, ensuring that a maximum of two Ancient Legendary equipment slots can exist at the same time.

Ancient Legendary equipment and Ancient Artifacts no longer drop in Inferno 7-9 and crafting Ancient Legendary equipment for Inferno 7-9 at the blacksmith will be disabled.

Low-difficulty Ancient Artifacts can now be exchanged for Ancient Scraps, used for enchanting Ancient Legendary equipment, at the Weapon Smith.

Prepare to challenge new Helliquary Bosses: The Fleshwarped

Albrecht has prepared for war, gathering the strongest Shardborne in his army: the Fleshwarped.

These monstrosities were once Albrecht's Shardborne followers, but with the power of creation, they have evolved into living war machines. Most traces of their former humanity have vanished, and all that remains is a burning desire for freedom and blood.

[Link]

Bloatmaw

In his search for weapons of war, Albrecht sought to create a Shardborne capable of ending battles within seconds. With the power of creation, Albrecht continuously transformed one of his Shardborne followers into a completely new creature. With its swollen gullet and strong legs, Bloatmaw leaps across battlefields, crushing prey and spewing miasma. In an instant, the toxic gas envelops entire legions, warping and melting flesh in the Shardborne's twisted image.

[Link]

Marrowmount

When the Bravehull Stronghold received word that Albrecht's army was approaching, the Entsteig platoon readied themselves with barricades and ramparts. Yet no wall was strong enough to withhold Marrowmount. The twisted stallion broke through the stronghold's walls with one charge, and Shardborne soldiers swarmed the Entsteig army within. Though a group of Entsteig soldiers were able to hinder the Shardborne, it's only a matter of time before it continues its rampage.

[Link]

Sundered Goliath

Albrecht formed the Sundered Goliath with the grafted bodies of hundreds of his followers, hoping to create the perfect creature. A failed experiment, the Shardborne was uncoordinated and unwieldy, yet Albrecht sought it for a new and greater purpose. Within the hulking chamber on its back, this behemoth carries whole battalions of Shardborne soldiers into war. As it tramples its enemies, Shardborne swarm from its body and overrun the battlefield.

Feature Updates

Prodigy's Path Changes

All aspects of Prodigy's Path are being reduced, but the relative values of the offerings will slightly increase.

Updates to Several Legendary Gems

We are slightly changing the functionality for a few Legendary Gems, and how they function when fighting other players: Viper's Bite, Seeping Bile, and Everlasting Torment.

To limit the total duration of loss of control these gems shared cooldowns between players wearing the same one. If another player applies the corresponding debuff to an enemy for these gems, it will no longer prevent your gems from being applied to that enemy. Your gems will now correctly respect your own gems' internal cooldowns, and not impacted by another player's cooldowns.

Developer's Note: The main function of these gems is to provide damage, so this setting meant less uptime for these effects if other players had the same ones equipped, which wasn't a great feeling.

Event Extensions

The Blessed Hunter event has been extended to February 23, 2025, and the Blessing of Legends event has been extended to February 26, 2025. Go forth and enjoy these increased blessings.

Better Set Items

We're increasing the Drop rates for higher quality set items, and increasing the chances of crafting higher quality set items.

The Demonic Remains' individual attribute values will still be locked to the item's Paragon Level, but the quality and the values on the item have a chance to increase with each Reforge.

Once an item has increased its quality, any new attributes rolled on to the remainder can never roll at a lower quality.

Cross-Server Dungeon Matchmaking (Beta)

We're introducing Cross-Server Dungeon Matchmaking as a limited beta test between servers in Oceania, Japan, and Korea. This should help matching together when entering dungeons, and improve matchmaking during areas when the population is low.

Due to initial technical limitations, you won't receive items or experience in real time when playing in a dungeon, but it will be granted after. This feature will be disabled by default, you can manually opt-in through the dungeon menu after receiving the Beta notice.

This change raises the maximum Immortal Dominance, giving you a higher ceiling to continue proving your power and prestige.

Spectral Allies AI Changes

Spectral Allies will now stop teleporting to you when they have died, and can now divide into groups to attack multiple targets simultaneously depending on the fight. They will also go to interactable components when found.

Party Recruitment and Matchmaking Optimizations

We're updating the Recruitment page to make it faster, clearer, and more effective to find the right players.

A few activities that don't really benefit from recruitment have been removed, and full parties will no longer appear.

Essence Mastery Changes

Essence Mastery is being removed, and instead the max rank benefits of Essence Mastery will be provided to you once each individual Skill once it has reached Max Rank while levelling up.

This is now referred to as a Mastery Bonus, showing you've mastered the technique of that skill. It features a new icon, and some functionality to explain this bonus. Functionally, it should be the same as Essence Mastery without the grind to finish Essence Mastery.

The Curse is Lifted on Cursed Items

Beginning with this major update, newly dropped items will no longer include Cursed attributes. Additionally, the system will no longer distribute Purification Shards.

To try and preserve the gameplay depth previously tied to Cursed equipment, we're introducing a brand-new Cursed Paragon Specialization.

Cursed Paragon Specialization

These will only feature the three most popular Cursed Effects: Lashed, Nettled, and Vexed. These Contain nodes that grant the full effects of the former two-piece, four-piece and six-piece Cursed sets. This also includes new passive nodes to improve various combat attributes, inspiring some hefty buildcraft.

Once the Cursed Paragon Specialization is activated, any Cursed attributes previously found on equipped items will immediately become inactive.

Transitioning Existing Items and Material

All Cursed items obtained before the update can be salvaged into Upgrade Material. Purification Shards can now also be exchanged at a 1:1 rate for Beguiling Dust.

War Games and Battleground Updates

We are adding both of the current existing Battlegrounds to War Games. Given that we'll need to tell the two apart, they are both getting names!

The original Battleground map will now be referred to as Assault, and the new map is called Convoy.

With this release, the War Games options for these maps will be limited, similar to when the first War Games maps were introduced.

Social Improvements

You can now use the @ symbol to tag friends directly within Channel chats. Note that this is not supported in World, Area, Nearby, or Recruitment channels.

New Privacy Settings

A new option has been added that allows players to turn off private messages and @mention notifications.

Cross-Server Chat Optimization

After a game concludes, cross-server chat will automatically merge into the Team chat channel.

Quick Access to Unread Messages

A new quick-access entry has been added for unread messages.

Set Item Crafting Changes

We'll be making a change to reduce some of the clutter caused by Fabled Wisps, and how many different Materials the Set Item crafting system has.

These changes include introducing a new material called Fabled Wisp, which has no difficulty attached to it. Fabled Wisp is a universal material that will be used to craft lower difficulty Set Items.

On December 17, when we release Inferno X-XII, Fabled Wisps for Inferno VII-XII will now exist. You'll receive and in-game message that automatically converts all Fabled Wisps from Hell I-Inferno VI in your inventory to the new Fabled Wisps.

These new universal Fabled Wisps can be converted up into Fabled Wisps in Inferno VII at a rate of 7:1.

Any older Fabled Wisps can be deleted if you so choose, we do not have any plans for them and will never have a purpose.
