Springfield Resident Sentenced for Attempted Luring of a Child
The Attorney General's Office announced that James Beam, 31, of Springfield, Vermont, was sentenced today on one felony count of attempted luring of a child. The charges brought against Mr. Beam are the result of a criminal investigation by the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (VT-ICAC) and the Hartford Police Department.
The Court, Judge Elizabeth Mann presiding, sentenced Mr. Beam to one day to three years in prison, all suspended, with a 10-year term of probation. Conditions of Mr. Beam's probation require him to complete sex offender programming, prohibit his contact with male children, and restrict his access to the internet.
If Mr. Beam violates the terms of his probation, he may face up to three years in prison. Mr. Beam is also required to register as a sex offender for 10 years after the completion of his 10-year term of probation.
