Heads of National Standardization Bodies of SCO Member States meet in Moscow
On May 14, 2026, a meeting of the heads of national standardization bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states was held in Moscow chaired by the Russian side.
The heads of delegations supported the relevance of institutionalizing the new area of SCO cooperation in the field of standardization, reaffirming their interest in further developing this specialized platform on a regular basis. They paid particular attention to developing mutually agreed approaches in this area as a significant factor for sustainable economic development, industrial cooperation, and deepening regional production and logistics links. They outlined promising areas of interaction that include digitalization, modern technologies, artificial intelligence and the green economy.
A Joint Action Plan for the development of this cooperation was adopted. It provides for the strengthening of practical interaction between relevant authorities, the exchange of experience and best practices, as well as improving the effectiveness of coordination in the field of standardization.

The meeting participants signed a final protocol.
A roundtable was held on the sidelines of the event during which participants were introduced to ongoing initiatives by the parties in the areas of SMART standardization, digital testing grounds, standards funds and others.
