A 17-nation Team Europe delegation is touring Tasmania this week, signalling Europe's growing interest in deeper trade, investment and economic cooperation with the state. Led by the European Union, the visit highlights Tasmania's rising profile as a partner for innovation, sustainability and global engagement.
The delegation from Team Europe in Australia is making a five-day visit to Tasmania, highlighting Europe's strong and growing interest in deepening economic, trade, and investment engagement with the state. The delegation includes trade and commercial counselors representing 17 EU Member States, reflecting Europe's strong commitment to enhanced engagement with Tasmania.
Tasmania is a distinctive and increasingly important partner within Australia's broader economic landscape. Team Europe values its long-standing economic, cultural, and people-to-people links with Tasmania-relationships built through cooperation in trade, education, science, sustainability, and the arts.
"Our purpose this week is to listen, learn, and better understand Tasmania's local priorities," European Union Head of Trade Joanna Pocztowska stated. "We look forward to open and constructive discussions during this visit, to exploring opportunities across advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, critical minerals and agritect, as well as identifying concrete way to work more closely together."
"We thank our Tasmanian partners for the warm welcome and the opportunity to engage," she said.
