SPD would like to remind community members that school is back in session; school zones are being enforced.
The Spokane Police Department would like to remind everyone that the new school year has begun. With that, children are coming and going from school.
The SPD Traffic Unit continues with its enforcement of the designated school zones to help ensure the safety of the students. Recently, these officers focused on the areas around Rogers High School, Longfellow and Garry Middle School. Multiple traffic stops were conducted for speeding and cell phone violations. Several of these contacts resulted in arrests for suspended driving and in one instance, possession of a stolen motorcycle.
Please remember to drive at the posted speed limits in the designated school zone areas at it enhances the safety of our students as well as school staff and volunteers that help monitor the cross walks.
