Beloved Musical Comedy ‘Mrs. Doubtfire’ Coming to Ball State’s Emens Auditorium, Oct. 30

Everyone's favorite Scottish nanny is headed to Muncie this month when the hit musical Mrs. Doubtfire takes the stage at Ball State University's Emens Auditorium for a 7:30 p.m. Oct. 30 performance.

Based on the beloved film, Mrs. Doubtfire tells the hysterical and heartfelt story of out-of-work actor Daniel Hillard, who-after losing custody in a messy divorce-creates the kindly alter ego of Scottish nanny Euphegenia Doubtfire in a desperate attempt to stay close to his children. As his new persona takes on a life of its own, Mrs. Doubtfire teaches Daniel more than he bargained for about family, identity, and love.

Critics have called Mrs. Doubtfire "wonderful, heart-warming, and laugh-out-loud funny" (Manchester Evening News) and "a feel-good, family-friendly comedy that delivers" (The Hollywood Reporter). The Chicago Tribune raves that it's "the lovable, big-hearted musical comedy we need right now-one that proves we're better together."

"Mrs. Doubtfire delivers on so many levels, reminding us why the shared experience of live theater is so vital," said Dr. Seth Beckman, dean of Ball State's College of Fine Arts. "Get ready to laugh, be moved, and witness an unforgettable performance."

Featuring a book by Karey Kirkpatrick and John O'Farrell and music and lyrics by Wayne Kirkpatrick and Karey Kirkpatrick-the Tony Award-nominated team behind Something Rotten!-the production is based on the original direction by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks.

The creative team includes tour director Steve Edlund; tour choreographer Michaeljon Slinger (based on original choreography by Lorin Latarro); arranger and orchestrator Ethan Popp; music supervisor Matthew Smedal; scenic designer David Korins; costume designer Catherine Zuber; lighting designer Philip S. Rosenberg; sound designer Keith Caggiano; hair and wig design by Victoria Tinsman (based on original design by David Brian Brown); and makeup design by Craig Forrest-Thomas. Casting is by Murnane Casting (Chad Eric Murnane, CSA, and Amber Snead, CSA). The production is stage managed by Anna Klevit.

The second national tour of Mrs. Doubtfire is produced and general managed by Work Light Productions and licensed by Music Theatre International.
