Lisa Whitmore Davis is a two-year stage II breast cancer survivor. She had two pulmonary embolisms, which led to her diagnosis after explaining to her gynecologist her latest health case. This alarmed her physician, so she suggested she get a 3-D mammogram. The tumor was not noticeable by touch, but the 3-D mammogram that she had at Karmanos showed the cancer. Whitmore Davis proceeded with her care at Karmanos, receiving a partial lumpectomy with Eric Brown, M.D., FACS, breast surgeon, chemotherapy with Jalian Elayoubi, M.D., medical oncologist, and radiation with Jordan Maier, M.D., radiation oncologist. All three specialists are members of the Breast Cancer Multidisciplinary Team. Whitmore Davis detailed her journey and how long there was a disconnect between the pulmonary embolisms and checking for cancer. She also described how Karmanos took care of her whole person, not just her cancer.
