WASHINGTON, D.C. - Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) today introduced a resolution condemning the January 18, 2026, storming of Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, by protestors who interfered with congregants' ability to peacefully assemble and freely exercise their faith.
The resolution states that the insurrectionists, including former CNN host Don Lemon, violated the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act and infringed on congregants' First Amendment right to religious freedom, rendering illegal their protest against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity.
"I want to see these insurrectionists in handcuffs. Storming a place of worship and intimidating Christians in defense of pedophiles, murderers, and rapists is inexcusable. Don Lemon and every raving lunatic who participated in this mob - including politicians like Tim Walz who radicalized them - must be held accountable for inciting violence and disrupting churchgoers' right to practice their religion," said Rep. Carter.
The Department of Justice has launched an investigation into the incident and, to date, have made three arrests in connection to the insurrection.
