Ciscomani Holds Roundtable with Healthcare Leaders to Discuss Needs of Southern Arizona Communities

Tucson, AZ - U.S. Representative Juan Ciscomani held a roundtable with Pima Heart and Vascular leadership, to discuss the organization's experience in caring for the local community and to reaffirm his commitment to supporting healthcare throughout southeastern Arizona.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join so many talented healthcare professionals today and learn more about Arizonans' unique healthcare needs," said Rep. Juan Ciscomani. "Conversations like these are truly invaluable to my work in Congress and in representing Arizona's Sixth Congressional District. By listening directly to those on the ground, we can better understand the challenges facing our communities and turn those conversations into meaningful solutions. I will continue bringing these local needs and their voices back to Washington and fighting to ensure Arizona's Sixth District has the resources it needs to deliver the highest-quality healthcare possible."

Pima Heart and Vascular is Arizona's largest privately owned and operated cardiovascular practice. Through medical expertise and a drive to provide quality cardiac care, Pima Heart and Vascular supplies critical health services to residents throughout Southern Arizona, as well as a Vascular Lab, Vein Center, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and at a majority of area hospitals.

Congressman Ciscomani's efforts to strengthen local healthcare are commended by members of Pima Heart and Vascular, including Dr. Neil Gheewala.

"It was a pleasure to meet with Congressman Ciscomani to share the priorities we and other local healthcare providers see every day, as well as the concerns we hear firsthand from the patients and communities we serve," said Dr. Neil Gheewala, Chief Medical Officer of Value-Based Care for Pima Heart and Vascular. "At Pima Heart and Vascular, our focus is on strengthening access to high-quality, independent cardiovascular care in the communities we serve. Achieving that mission requires strong partnerships at every level, especially federal policymakers who understand the challenges facing patients and providers. I am grateful to Congressman Ciscomani for his continued advocacy for healthcare in Arizona and his willingness to engage in our clinics to ensure patients throughout Southern Arizona have access to the cardiovascular care they need."

Participants at the roundtable included:

  • Dr. Neil Gheewala, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Value-Based Care
  • Linda Andrews, Regional President
  • Racheal Calhoun, Director of Nursing
  • Jennifer James, Director of Operations
  • Paul Bejarano, MD
  • Janak Kansagra, MD
  • Arthur Menezes, MD

From his first day in office, the congressman has worked to ensure residents throughout Arizona's 6th Congressional District and beyond have the resources and support they need at the federal level to access quality care. Most recently, he has fought for critical funding for Benson Hospital to support rural healthcare, urged the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to keep Tucson's Indian Health Services (IHS) facility open to ensure local tribal communities continue receiving the care they need, and introduced the Alzheimer's Early Detection Act with Rep. Jake Auchincloss to expand access in the fight against Alzheimer's Disease.

Congressman Ciscomani remains committed to fighting for the needs and priorities of both healthcare providers and patients throughout Arizona's Sixth District and looks forward to continued partnership with organizations such as Pima Heart and Vascular, to ensure both rural and urban communities across the region have greater access to proper care networks and facilities.
