We are excited to announce that Sarah Kerr has been promoted to assistant editor, Video.
In her new role, Sarah is responsible for the editorial programming of videos on our new Watch tab . Sarah will partner closely with video department and newsroom leaders and The Times's brands, including NYT Cooking, Wirecutter and The Athletic to help ensure we stay on top of the day's news developments with our video journalism, while also presenting content that is surprising, provocative and delightful. She will coordinate with international bureaus and partner with audience and product teams to ensure a best-in-class video experience for our audience.
The breadth and depth of Sarah's work at The Times makes her uniquely suited for this new role. She's a diligent, careful reporter, who has worked across all of our video journalism efforts, from live coverage to visual investigations to on-the-ground news and enterprise. She has been with The Times since 2017 and covered major storylines, including U.S. politics, the Israel-Hamas war, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, migration in North America and Europe, the coronavirus pandemic, climate change and more. Over the years she has also led video-driven interactives and contributed to breaking news coverage from both New York and the London newsrooms.
Sarah is originally from Minneapolis-St. Paul and is a graduate of McGill University in Montreal and the Craig Newmark School of Journalism at the City University of New York. Her work for The Times has been recognized with an Edward R. Murrow Award and a New York Press Club award, and was part of a submission that was a finalist for the 2022 Pulitzer Prize.
Please join us in congratulating her!
