City of Napa Invites Community to Open House Showcasing City Services and Departments

The City of Napa will host a Community Open House on Wednesday, Oct. 22, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Las Flores Community Center (4300 Linda Vista Ave, Napa). The event, themed "Your City, Your Services: Coming Together for Our Community," will offer residents an interactive opportunity to learn about City departments, services and programs in a fun, family-friendly environment.

"This open house is a chance for residents to come together, engage and learn more about the work we do to support our community," said City Manager Steve Potter. "We invite everyone to join the fun, ask questions, and meet the friendly faces who keep our community running smoothly every day."

The event will feature a "science fair"-style setup, and attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with a wide range of City departments, including Public Works, which oversees streets, sidewalks, and infrastructure maintenance; Utilities, which manages water services and solid waste; Parks & Recreation, which offers programs and maintains community parks and facilities; and the Police and Fire Departments, which will showcase their roles in public safety and emergency response. Community Development will also be present to share information about housing and homelessness services, planning and building processes, and economic development initiatives. Additionally, the City's Climate Action team will host a table to highlight local sustainability efforts and how residents can get involved in creating a greener Napa.

In addition to core service departments, several administrative teams will also be on hand to share valuable information. Human Resources will provide insights into current job openings, the City's inclusive workplace culture, and the wide range of employee benefits that make Napa a great place to work. The Community Relations team will showcase how the City communicates with residents, promotes transparency, and fosters civic engagement through outreach, media, and public events. Other administrative departments, including City Clerk, will also be available to answer questions and highlight the behind-the-scenes work that keeps City operations running efficiently.

Each department will provide hands-on activities and helpful information to give residents a deeper understanding of how these essential services support daily life in Napa. Attendees will receive a passport and stamp map to guide them through the various stations. Upon completing activities, they will collect stamps at each department table. Participants who collect 12 or more stamps will be entered into a prize drawing held at 7:15 p.m. to close out the event.

The interactive format encourages families to explore different City services while learning about everything from emergency response and infrastructure maintenance to recreation programs and business services.

This event aligns with the City Council's Community Engagement Focus Area, which aims to enhance communication between the City and residents while creating more opportunities for public participation in local government.

All community members are encouraged to attend and discover new information on the breadth of services their City government provides. For more information about the Community Open House and other City events, visit CityOfNapa.org.
