The Independent Bankers Association of Texas (IBAT), the largest state community banking association in the nation, recently honored Woodforest National Bank® (Woodforest) with a Best of Community Banking (BOCB) Award. The bank received a Silver Eagle Award in the Community Service category for its "Band Together Texas: Turning Devastation into Hope in the Texas Hill Country" entry.
Following the devastating Texas Hill Country floods on July 4, 2025, Woodforest joined a statewide effort to support the communities facing a long road to recovery. As a presenting sponsor of Band Together Texas, the bank helped support a large-scale benefit concert held August 17, 2025, at Austin's Moody Center.
The event brought together Texas musicians, celebrities, and community leaders to raise funds for long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts. Performers included Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum, and Cody Johnson, with appearances by several other notable Texans. By the end of the event, Band Together Texas had raised over $8.5 million for the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country and the Central Texas Community Foundation.
Woodforest's involvement extended beyond its sponsorship of the concert. The bank's Texas branches participated in additional fundraising through the Woodforest Charitable Foundation, with donations matched to increase the impact of contributions supporting flood recovery.
Through Band Together Texas and its broader fundraising efforts, Woodforest National Bank used its resources, employees, and statewide presence to help communities begin rebuilding after the disaster. The initiative reflected the bank's commitment to responding when the communities it serves face their greatest needs.
2026 marks the 35th year that IBAT has celebrated the outstanding accomplishments of Texas community banks with the BOCB Awards. Community banks, such as Woodforest National Bank, play a critical role in their local communities. The Best of Community Banking competition is designed to honor local banks for their commitment to helping their customers, neighbors, employees, and community. BOCB Awards recognize community banks throughout the state for their innovation, creativity, and success in fulfilling a specific community or internal need.
