The City has announced the road closures and Transit changes for the Downtown Block Party on Saturday, June 27, 2026.
The Downtown Block Party is a yearly celebration organized by the Iowa City Downtown District. This sprawling Downtown event is fun for everyone and features live music, games, and activities including beach play, mini-golf, silent disco, dueling pianos, and so much more. The party runs from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 27.
The City will have free parking in all Downtown parking ramps all day Saturday, and until 10:30 a.m. Sunday, June 28
Several road closures will be in place during the event beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday:
The alley north of the Iowa City Public Library will also be closed.
The "No Parking 2 a.m. to 6 a.m." signs throughout Downtown will be enforced Saturday; any cars left in the area will be towed.
Most of the streets will be reopened early Sunday morning, June 28, 2026. The west lane of Clinton from Washington Street to Iowa Avenue will reopen around 11 a.m. Sunday.
