  1. I'm a Seattlite! I grew up hiking in the Cascades and Olympics with my dad, I think the OG Starbucks is overrated, I love the rain, and I've never been in the Space Needle. West Coast Best Coast and Go Mariners!
  2. When I was nine, I lived in northern Spain for a year with my parents and went to an all-Spanish Catholic school. My favorite part of the day was the two-hour siesta when school closed and we went home for lunch. My only regret is that I wish I had kept up my Spanish!
  3. In 2nd grade, two of my friends and I recited the Gettysburg Address for the school talent show. Niche I know…
  4. When I was five, my dream was to be a cowgirl ballerina singer. Unfortunately I am afraid of horses, and I can't sing or dance to save my life, so I found an alternate career path. My B.A. is in elementary education, but I've known since sophomore year that I wanted to go into higher education so I got my master's in higher education. I love this field so much!
  5. My dad fell off an airplane once…No really! He was a mechanical engineer at Boeing and was inspecting a plane one time and fell off the wing. He was totally fine other than a small bruise but it makes for a great fun fact!
  6. In grad school, my assistantship was with the honors program. They had a really unique program where instead of a monetary scholarship, they took every freshman honors student on an international trip during the January of their first year. I lucked out with that assistantship and got the opportunity to go to Greece my first year and Ecuador and the Galapagos my second year. The idea was to provide these students with opportunities for cultural and global engagement as they entered into their college experience. My dream is to work in a similar program some day!
  7. My two obsessions are plants and dinosaurs. I currently have around 65 houseplants brightening up my home and I propagate more and more all the time. I have had a jar of dinosaurs on my desk since college as a reminder to not take myself too seriously.
  8. Just about everything I own is thrifted or second hand. I love that most of my furniture has a story to tell and has come from someone else's home. I love a good estate sale!
  9. When I graduated high school, my plan was to get a van and a dog and travel around the country. Upon graduation, I realized I really really loved learning and didn't want to put off going to college. There is still a piece of me that thinks I could do van-life but I'm not sure where I would put all my thrifted furniture or plants.
  10. My husband, Jake, is a pastor at a church in Delmar and that was how we ended up in the Capital Region. We have loved exploring the area and venturing into the mountains when we have time. Our weekends are filled with cribbage at breweries, books at new coffee shops, and hikes up in the Adirondacks!
