RTA offers free rides on Juneteenth

(DAYTON, OHIO) - The Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (RTA) will offer free rides systemwide Friday, June 19, in recognition of Juneteenth.

Juneteenth is a federal holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. The holiday marks the arrival of federal troops in Texas in 1865 to ensure all enslaved people were freed, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Customers can plan their trips at iriderta.org or with the Transit app.
