Johnson County woman sentenced for insurance fraud

Topeka, Kan. - Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, today, announced a Johnson County woman has been sentenced to 24 months of probation for insurance fraud.

Jinky Alcantara, aged 39, pleaded guilty on May 26, 2026, in Johnson County District Court to one felony count of insurance fraud. Alcantara produced false invoices to her insurance company as part of a burglary claim with the intent to financially gain from the submission of the false writings. She was sentenced on July 16, 2026, to 24 months of supervised probation and assessed $500 in fines, with additional court costs and fees.

"Every time someone commits insurance fraud, it causes families and businesses across Kansas to pay more," said Commissioner Vicki Schmidt. "The Department will continue to hold these individuals accountable."

The Kansas Department of Insurance investigated this case which was prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General's Office.
