The Oregon Senate confirmed on Oct. 1, 2025, Governor Tina Kotek's appointment of Silvia Tanner to the Oregon Environmental Quality Commission.
Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Director Leah Feldon said, "We are honored to welcome Silvia Tanner to the Environmental Quality Commission. With her legal and policy expertise and longstanding commitment to clean energy and environmental justice, Commissioner Tanner brings a perspective that will strengthen the commission's work. I look forward to working with Commissioner Tanner in her new leadership role."
The commission is a five-member panel appointed by the governor to set policy for DEQ. Commissioners are appointed to four-year terms and are confirmed by the state Senate.
Tanner is a senior energy policy and legal analyst with Multnomah County's Office of Sustainability, where she has advanced clean energy, environmental justice, and protections for vulnerable communities. "I am honored for this opportunity to serve Oregonians by bringing my experience and perspective to a role that is key to ensuring the health and wellbeing of our community and environment," said Tanner.
Her term began on Oct. 1, 2025.
Commissioner Mark Webb, whose term began on Oct. 5, 2023, has been reappointed for a second term.
