WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined The Scott Jennings Show to discuss the uptick in dangerous rhetoric from Democratic leaders and what it means for their party. She also spoke on recent FBI indictments of an alleged illicit sports gambling ring and the staggering rise in illegal gambling amongst America's youth.
On the Left's increasingly hostile and inhumane rhetoric, including a Democrat who vowed to go "across your neck" when referencing Republicans:
"Look, I cannot even wrap my head around [it]. I regret that you and I are not doing a video right now because as you read those things, my jaw dropped … [T]his is beyond comprehension that you would talk about attacking someone specifically in the neck right after Charlie Kirk. It is insane that the Left is not standing up … and demanding that this type of behavior, this type of rhetoric, end now. And I think it goes hand in glove with where we see the [Democrat] party moving. I mean, Scott, I am convinced that the Left wing of the party is no longer the Left wing-it actually is the Democratic Party … Katherine Clark, the [Democratic] Whip over there in the House say that families are suffering, and that's the leverage that they have. I mean, it is absolute insanity."
On a recent illegal sports gambling indictment announced by FBI Director Kash Patel involving NBA coaches and players:
"As you know, I am from the great state of Alabama where we take SEC football very seriously … Obviously, being the wife of a former professional athlete, my husband having played for the New England Patriots … I know how much grit and grind goes into these games … And so, if you have people that are swinging these, that are doing things unethical, absolutely, 100%, we've got to get to the bottom of it."
On the dangers to the next generation stemming from the rapidly growing intersection between social media and gambling:
"[W]e've got to be honest about what's happening to our next generation. We talk a lot about social media … Now into gaming and gambling, and particularly sports betting being thrust on the next generation. The addiction that comes [with] that… and the cross section that's at play … I think this is just the tip of the iceberg. And I think the issue that we have here in the country is, is much larger than this."
In a recent Senate Judiciary hearing, Senator Britt asked Attorney General Pam Bondi about illegal offshore gaming operations targeting minors and received her commitment to working with the Senator to protect minors from this growing and widespread problem.
