Published on January 15, 2026

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Department of Parks and Recreation will host job fairs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 22 and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on January 29 to connect job seekers with hiring managers offering seasonal and part-time positions within the department and at the brand-new MLK Community Center. Both job fairs will be held at Neland Avenue Church at 940 Neland Ave SE.

The job fairs will allow job seekers the opportunity to meet with hiring managers to learn more about available positions, Parks & Recreation careers and complete preliminary interviews.

"We want to make it easier for people to ask questions and find opportunities that fit their skills and goals," said Kourtney Perkins, recreation operations manager for the MLK Community Center. "We look forward to meeting with individuals who are passionate about connecting back into our community here. There are a wide variety of positions that cover many different skillsets and provide a variety of professional opportunities."

Open positions represent multiple divisions throughout the department and include jobs at the community center, set to open February 21. Featured positions include:

  • Program Leads
  • Building Attendants
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • Fitness Instructors
  • Youth Instructors
  • Gear Library Coordinator
  • Park Maintenance
  • Pool Maintenance
  • Pool Attendants

Applications for seasonal, part-time, and community center positions are currently open online at https://grparks.info/mlkcenterjobs.

Completing an application online in advance, if possible, is recommended. For those unable to apply in advance should bring physical copies of their resumes and plan extra time to complete a virtual application. Job seekers should anticipate 30-45 minutes of their time and only need to attend one job fair. Applicants who apply online and are unable to attend a job fair will still be considered for a position. The events are free to attend and registration is not required. Business casual dress is appreciated.
