The Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Foundation received a $400,000 donation from the Walter's Children's Charity Classic (WCCC) Committee, funds that were raised during the 30th annual - and final - Walter's Children's Charity Classic golf tournament.
WCCC committee members and tournament founders Steve and Cathy Kienle presented their final check on June 10, marking the conclusion of nearly three decades of giving to Loma Linda University Children's Hospital (LLUCH).
Over the past 30 years, the annual tournament has raised more than $7 million in support of Children's Health. These funds have helped provide vital medical equipment, support cancer initiatives, enhance patient care programs, and contribute to the growth and advancement of multiple departments throughout the Children's Hospital.
"We will always be grateful for the support the Walter's Children Charity Classic has provided to Children's Hospital," said Peter Baker, JD, MBA, senior vice president and administrator of LLUCH. "Their contributions have had a direct and meaningful impact on our patients, helping improve the health and well-being of children throughout our community."
Beyond their philanthropic leadership through the WCCC, the Kienles have also served as valued members of the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Foundation Board and have generously contributed their time and talents as past gala chairs.
In recognition of their impact, a naming plaque honoring the Kienles will be installed at the main entrance of the new Loma Linda University Children's Health Specialty Clinics.
Looking ahead, the Kienles hope to inspire their sponsors and supporters to continue their philanthropic efforts through the newly envisioned 4 the Kids Foundation Classic, founded by a longtime WCCC supporter and set to launch this fall.
