How can data protection contribute to value creation in the financial sector?
This publication presents the main findings of a study conducted jointly by Luxembourg's National Commission for Data Protection (CNPD), France's National Commission on Informatics and Liberty (CNIL) and the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) on the interactions between data protection and value creation within data-driven organisations. It addresses four dimensions: data valuation, accounting, mergers and acquisitions, and governance.
It aims to contribute to reflection and dialogue with businesses, academia and other regulatory authorities on these issues.
The study will be presented at the conference "Beyond Compliance: From Data Protection to Value Creation", taking place on 10 November 2026 at the Chamber of Commerce in Luxembourg. The event will provide an opportunity to explore the study's main findings and discuss their implications for financial stakeholders and corporate governance.
