As Birthright Citizenship Case Hearing Begins, Rosen Urges Supreme Court to Declare Trump Executive Order Unconstitutional

Senator Rosen Has Introduced Legislation To Block The Implementation Of The Trump Executive Order

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, as the U.S. Supreme Court hears arguments in the Trump vs. Barbara case, Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) issued a statement urging the Supreme Court to protect birthright citizenship and strike down Donald Trump's unconstitutional attempts to take it away.

"The U.S. Constitution is clear: children born in the United States are citizens," said Senator Rosen. "It is critical that the Supreme Court upholds the Constitution and puts an end to Donald Trump's unconstitutional attempt to revoke citizenship from children born in the United States."

Senator Rosen has led Congressional efforts to protect citizenship for children born in the U.S. In February, Senator Rosen led an amicus brief in Trump vs. Barbara, demanding the protection of birthright citizenship. Last year, she introduced a bill to block implementation of Trump's Executive Order attempting to revoke automatic citizenship for children born in the United States. Senator Rosen has consistently spoken out against harmful court decisions allowing unconstitutional actions, such as this Executive Order, to go into effect.
