Atchison County woman sentenced for insurance fraud

Topeka, Kan. - Kansas Insurance Commissioner Vicki Schmidt, today, announced an Atchison County woman has been sentenced to 12 months of probation for insurance fraud.

Amber Conner, aged 30, pleaded guilty on July 13, 2026, in Atchison County District Court to one felony count of insurance fraud. Conner opened a new policy with her insurance company, knowing her vehicle had already been damaged in a previous event, then falsely reported the date of loss in an attempt to gain coverage for damage to her vehicle. She was sentenced on August 24, 2026, to 12 months of probation.

"Every time someone commits insurance fraud, it causes families and businesses across Kansas to pay more," said Commissioner Vicki Schmidt. "The Department will continue to hold these individuals accountable."

This case was investigated by the Kansas Department of Insurance and prosecuted by the Kansas Attorney General's Office.
