BOSTON - Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers at Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) are deeply thankful after receiving $10,000 bonus checks from U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem during a visit to BOS. Secretary Noem distributed the special bonuses to officers for their dedication to continue carrying out TSA's mission and protecting American travelers during the 43-day federal government shutdown.
"President Trump and I are giving a $10,000 bonus to exemplary TSA officers across our nation who went above and beyond their performance," said Secretary Noem. "Americans can be proud of TSA workers across the country who continued to serve with excellence throughout the shutdown and who went to great lengths to protect our country, care for their fellow Americans, and keep our nation moving. Thank you to the men and women of TSA!"
BOS TSA Officer Brian Trombetto (TSA photo)Brian Trombetto was one of the more than 270 TSA officers at BOS who had perfect attendance during the shutdown and earned the bonus.
"It was an honorable and exciting feeling to receive the $10,000 award from Secretary Noem," said Trombetto, who will celebrate his fourth anniversary with TSA in early January 2026. "I took the oath to protect the nation's transportation systems and the safety of the American people. I take that oath seriously and always want to be deemed reliable and dependable."
Trombetto said his favorite part of working for TSA is carrying out the agency's mission, even during challenging times like the government shutdown.
"I feel it is a respectable position, making sure people are able to travel safe and without fear," he added. "I do a job I love! I enjoy working beside my coworkers. I have gratitude and feel I am providing a necessary service to my country."
Bob Allison, TSA federal security director for Massachusetts, expressed his deep appreciation to all his teams' officers who continued carrying out the agency's mission during the shutdown.
"I am very proud of our TSA officers at BOS who went above and beyond, continuing to exhibit tremendous dedication and professionalism to protect American travelers during the difficult government shutdown," said Allison. "It was a challenging period for our workforce. However, their resilience to keep carrying out TSA's important mission was extremely impressive."
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is paying for these bonuses using carryover funds from fiscal year 2025.
