Public Notice of Federal Consistency Review

October 24, 2025

U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Coast Shipping Safety Fairways

The U.S. Coast Guard is proposing to establish shipping safety fairways and associated vessel routing measures along the Atlantic coast. The proposed action is not expected to change the total number of vessels or trips in the area but may affect some vessel voyage plans and anchorage locations and result in small shifts in current vessel traffic. Most proposed routing measures, as well as the proposed fairway anchorage, would be located in federal waters. This action is subject to review for consistency with the enforceable policies of Maine Coastal Program under 15 CFR 930, subpart C. More information about the project can be found by reviewing the U.S. Coast Guard proposed action letter. Public comments will be accepted through November 14, 2025 and can be sent to the Coastal Zone Management (CZM) Federal Consistency email address.
