The Weekly Wrap - Friday, April 10, 2026

The Agua Fria and South Meadows Intersection Improvement Project is nearing completion. This long-anticipated effort addresses aging and failing traffic signals that no longer meet current demands due to changing land use and increased traffic volumes.

Improvements include a new traffic signal, intersection enhancements, dedicated bike lanes, ADA-compliant sidewalks, and additional turning lanes. These upgrades will reduce congestion, enhance safety, and meet New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) Level of Service (LOS) A.

Construction continues with the recent installation of three mast arms at the intersection. Over the next two weeks, work is anticipated to include the removal of two PNM power poles and the transfer of fiber-optic cable, followed by the installation of a fourth mast arm, as conditions allow. The roadway will remain open, with temporary lane shifts and flagging operations in place. Drivers are encouraged to use caution, follow posted signage, and allow extra travel time.

The project is in its final stages, and the new traffic signal system is expected to be operational soon. Continued patience is appreciated as crews complete this work.

The completed project will improve safety, traffic flow, and accessibility for all who travel through the area
