Changes to the lists of Statements of Principles and accepted late-onset conditions, October 2026

On 8 October 2026, 24 replacement Statements of Principles and one new Statement of Principles took effect in New Zealand, and the name of one accepted late-onset condition changed.

Replacement Statements of Principles

  • benign paroxysmal positional vertigo
  • cirrhosis of the liver
  • complex regional pain syndrome
  • female sexual dysfunction
  • frostbite
  • labral tear of the hip and shoulder (Name has changed from labral tear)
  • malignant neoplasm of the ovary and fallopian tube (Name has changed from malignant neoplasm of the ovary)
  • popliteal entrapment syndrome
  • sickle-cell disorder
  • substance use disorder
  • thromboangiitis obliterans
  • tooth wear

New Statement of Principles

  • Gulf War Illness (Reasonable hypothesis version only has been created)

Accepted late-onset condition

  • malignant neoplasm of the ovary and fallopian tube (Name has changed from malignant neoplasm of the ovary)
