On November 6, in Doha, within the framework of the Second World Summit for Social Development, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan participated in and delivered remarks at the side event entitled "Leveraging traditional knowledge and nature-based solutions for poverty eradication: A building block for Biodiversity COP17", organized by Armenia.
During the event, a welcoming speech was delivered by President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan. Arsen Torosyan, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia, delivered a speech as keynote speaker of the event.
In his remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan mentioned that biodiversity and human well-being are inseparable. He emphasized that the protection of ecosystems is not merely an environmental goal, but also a foundation for eradicating poverty, promoting the right to health, ensuring food and water security and preserving cultural identity and community resilience.
The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia emphasized that Armenia's vision is to make COP17 a truly inclusive, participatory and action-oriented conference, one that unites all stakeholders - governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, civil society, women and youth, scientific and private sectors around the shared goal of building a future in harmony with nature.
Vahan Kostanyan highlighted that Armenia is ready to continue its cooperation with all partners and will be delighted to welcome everyone in Yerevan within the framework of COP17.
