EU and University of Nairobi Launch Pioneering Teaching Module on Regional Integration
The European Union Delegation to Kenya congratulates the University of Nairobi's Department of Diplomacy and International Studies, following the launch of a new Master's-level teaching module. As opinion polls across Europe and Africa indicate that citizens value regional cooperation; academic analysis will match this interest and help understand past, present, and prepare for the future.
The module, titled "Comparative Study on the European Union and the African Union," will equip a new generation of African scholars, diplomats, and policymakers with in-depth knowledge of how regional organizations address shared challenges - from trade and economic development to peace, security, and climate action. The partnership with the University of Nairobi reflects the EU's commitment to strengthening EU-Africa academic cooperation and supporting Africa's integration agenda.

The course will cover the historical evolution, institutional structures, legal frameworks, and external relations of both regional bodies, combining theoretical foundations with applied comparative analysis. Students will engage through lectures, seminars, case studies, and guided research.
Offered initially for three academic years, the module will be complemented by an annual Summer Camp on Comparative EU-AU Regional Integration to deepen experiential learning and practitioner engagement.
