WASHINGTON, D.C. - Congressman Don Davis (NC-01) spent Monday on the road, thanking first responders across North Carolina's First Congressional District as part of his third annual "Pies of Thanks" tour. Covering all 22 counties, Davis delivered holiday pies and personal gratitude to the men and women who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.
"Thanksgiving is a time to pause and recognize the everyday heroes who rarely get a day off," said Congressman Davis. "Our first responders and 911 telecommunicators are the backbone of public safety and healthcare in eastern North Carolina. Their commitment, especially during the holidays, deserves our deepest appreciation."
The "Pies of Thanks" tour served as a districtwide gesture of gratitude, offering a simple but heartfelt reminder that eastern North Carolinians value the dedication of those who answer the call at all hours. Congressman Davis hand-delivered pies at each stop, using the gesture to honor law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical services professionals, and public safety telecommunicators.
The day began at 6:00 A.M. at the Greene County Operations Center in Snow Hill, NC, before continuing through Lenoir, Wayne, Wilson, Edgecombe, Nash, Granville, Vance, Warren, Halifax, Northampton, Hertford, Gates, Chowan, Perquimans, Pasquotank, Camden, Currituck, Tyrrell, Washington, Bertie, and Martin counties.
