The University of Toledo College of Law most recent alumni excelled at the Ohio bar examination in July.
Eighty-six percent of graduates passed the test on the first try, a six-year high that surpasses the state average of 80%. Toledo Law ranks second among the state's nine law schools in its first-time passage rate, trailing only Ohio State University.

"I am so proud of our students and all of their hard work," Dean Rebecca Zietlow said. "I am also thankful to the faculty for their concerted efforts to aid our students with their academic success."

This programming includes extended bar preparation courses for third-year students, faculty-led subject review lectures and a post-graduate faculty mentoring program that pairs every graduate with a faculty mentor during the bar study period.
"We're proud of our graduates' hard work and are excited to see the contributions they will make as new members of the legal profession," said Kelly Tomlinson, director of academic success and bar preparation at the College of Law. "This year, we implemented some new bar preparation initiatives and added a new staff member to provide more individual assistance to our bar takers."
New this year, Toledo Law launched the Raising the Bar Fund, a collaborative initiative between the College of Law and the UToledo Foundation. The fund provides stipends for essential living expenses, such as housing, food and transportation, to students targeted for additional support during the critical 10-week study period between commencement and the July bar exam.
Four of six inaugural recipients successfully passed their bar exams, including graduates in Ohio and Michigan.
