A fatal hit and run occurred on Highway 26 after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle.

On Tuesday, July 28th at 1:43 a.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to a pedestrian involved crash on Highway 26 near the Oregon Zoo. When officers arrived, they found a pedestrian deceased and the involved driver had left the scene.
The Major Crash Team is responding to assume the investigation. Information about the vehicle involved is not being released at this time.
Eastbound Highway 26 is closed at the Sylvan exit to all traffic. It will likely remain closed for several hours during the investigation.
