On Monday, the Prime Minister of the 20th Government, Inga Ruginienė, spoke by telephone with the Prime Minister of Ukraine, Yuliya Svyrydenko. The Lithuanian Prime Minister assured that support for Ukraine, attacked by Russia, remains an unwavering commitment and one of this Government's priorities.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Y. Svyrydenko congratulated I. Ruginienė and her Cabinet of Ministers, who were sworn in last week, wished them success in their work, and invited the Lithuanian Prime Minister to visit Ukraine.
For her part, the Head of the Lithuanian Government stressed Lithuania's unchanged position.
"Lithuania's support for Ukraine is and will remain strong, as it stems from the sincere solidarity and compassion of the Lithuanian people for the country under attack, as well as from our common interest - a peaceful and secure Europe. This support will continue to be comprehensive; we will go on helping Ukraine to become a full-fledged EU member as soon as possible and will make every effort to ensure that Ukraine has real, effective security guarantees. We shall speak with one voice, calling on our partners to increase pressure on Russia and the accomplices of its aggression, and tirelessly seek to hold Russia accountable for the crimes it has committed," said Prime Minister I. Ruginienė.
I. Ruginienė thanked Y. Svyrydenko for the invitation to visit Ukraine and agreed to continue their discussion on the most pressing issues for the two countries in Kyiv in the near future.
