Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman participated on Friday, 19 June 2026, in the business workshop entitled "Investment Opportunities for the Croatian Private Sector under the Global Gateway Strategy and the Pact for the Mediterranean", held at the Croatian Chamber of Economy and jointly organised by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Croatian Chamber of Economy and the European Commission.
The workshop brought together more than one hundred representatives of the Croatian private sector, public institutions, business associations, the European Commission and international financial institutions, with the aim of presenting concrete opportunities for Croatian companies to participate in projects and investments implemented by the European Union through the Global Gateway strategy and the Pact for the Mediterranean.
In his address, Grlić Radman emphasised that Global Gateway represents one of the European Union's key strategic instruments for external action and serves as Europe's partnership offer, linking investment, infrastructure, energy, digital transformation and human development with the principles of sustainability, transparency and high standards.
He highlighted that Global Gateway provides Croatian companies with access to new markets and opportunities to participate in projects that will shape the future economic development of the European neighbourhood and other partner regions across the world.
"Today, we no longer compete solely through the quality of our products and services. We also compete through Europe's ability to be present where new markets and new partnerships are being shaped. Global Gateway is Europe's response to that challenge," the minister stated.
The minister also underlined the importance of the Pact for the Mediterranean, noting that stability, economic development, energy connectivity and migration management are issues that directly affect Europe's security and prosperity. As a Mediterranean country, Croatia has a strong interest in actively contributing to the strengthening of partnerships with countries of the Southern Neighbourhood and supports initiatives that foster economic growth, investment and the creation of new opportunities for European and Croatian companies.
Grlić Radman also recalled that, earlier this year, the National Global Gateway Team was established, bringing together relevant public institutions and partners with a view to enhancing the involvement of the Croatian economy in the implementation of the European Union's investment initiatives.
The participants were also addressed by European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Tomislav Ćorić, and President of the Croatian Chamber of Economy Luka Burilović.
During the workshop, participants were presented with the European Union's priority sectors and projects, available financial instruments, opportunities to participate in international consortia, as well as specific business opportunities for Croatian companies in third-country markets, particularly in the fields of energy, transport, construction, digital technologies and industrial solutions.
The day before, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs organised a meeting of the Croatian National Global Gateway Team with representatives of the European Commission from DG INTPA, DG ENEST and DG MENA. Discussions focused on strengthening interinstitutional coordination, exchanging best practices and further enhancing the national approach to facilitating the participation of Croatian companies in European Union projects in partner countries.
The meetings and workshop represent an important contribution to strengthening the international competitiveness of the Croatian economy, promoting exports and creating new partnerships, while further reinforcing the position of Croatian companies within European and global investment projects.
