Public invited to review draft development code recommendations for Johnson County

Johnson County residents are invited to participate in a series of public open house meetings to review and provide feedback on draft recommendations for the updated zoning regulations affecting unincorporated areas of the county, outside city jurisdictions. These recommendations aim to modernize land use regulations, improve clarity, and support the county's long-term planning goals.

The open houses will offer community members the opportunity to learn about the proposed changes, ask questions, and share input directly with planning staff and the planning team. Feedback gathered during these sessions will help shape the final version of the zoning regulations.

Each open house will be held in a come-and-go format with no formal presentation, allowing attendees to drop in at their convenience. The same information will be presented at all three meetings, so participants may choose the date and location that best fits their schedule.

Open House Schedule

  • Tuesday, Oct. 7: 6:30-8 p.m. at New Century Field House, 551 New Century Parkway, New Century, KS
  • Wednesday, Oct. 8: 6:30-8 p.m. at Johnson County Administration Building, Lower Level Room #201, 111 S Cherry Street, Olathe, KS
  • Thursday, Oct. 9: 7-8:30 p.m. at Stilwell Elementary School 6410 W 199th Street, Stilwell, KS

All residents, business owners and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and participate in shaping the future of development in Johnson County.
