Funding advances long-term transportation solution to improve public safety, strengthen emergency access, and ease commercial traffic through residential neighborhoods
Bristol Township, PA - Today, Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1) announced he has secured $5 million in federal Community Project Funding to advance planning and engineering for a long-term bridge and transportation solution in Bristol Township. The investment will help address the infrastructure and traffic challenges highlighted by the nearly two-year closure of the Randall Avenue Bridge, which strained local roads, disrupted emergency access, and diverted heavy commercial traffic through residential neighborhoods.
The funding will support the evaluation and development of potential infrastructure improvements to provide safer, more reliable transportation connections for residents, businesses, and emergency responders. Potential approaches include a proposed Haines Road Bridge connecting Haines Road across the railway corridor to North Radcliffe Street, as well as potential improvements to the Randall Avenue Bridge. Fitzpatrick has worked closely with Bristol Township leaders to help restore access to the Randall Avenue Bridge, which reopened in January 2026, while continuing to support efforts to identify a lasting solution to the community's transportation challenges.
"The closure of the Randall Avenue Bridge highlighted just how critical reliable infrastructure is to our residents, businesses, and emergency services. While reopening the bridge was an important accomplishment, our focus has always been on finding a permanent, long-term solution that improves public safety, accommodates commercial traffic, and reduces the impact of heavy vehicles traveling through our residential neighborhoods. Congressman Fitzpatrick has been an invaluable partner throughout this process, from his direct involvement in helping restore access to the Randall Avenue Bridge to securing this significant $5 million federal investment. His continued commitment to Bristol Township is helping us move forward with the planning and engineering necessary to evaluate the proposed Haines Road Bridge and develop a transportation solution that will benefit our community for generations to come. We sincerely appreciate his partnership and continued advocacy on behalf of Bristol Township," said Randee J. Mazur, Township Manager, Bristol Township.
"Reopening the Randall Avenue Bridge was essential, but it was never the finish line. The closure exposed a larger challenge for Bristol Township: strained local roads, heavy commercial traffic moving through residential neighborhoods, and concerns about reliable access for our first responders. From day one, we worked alongside Township leaders to restore access and pursue a permanent solution. This $5 million investment is an important step in bringing us closer to advancing the planning and engineering for a safer, more reliable crossing that will protect our neighborhoods, support local businesses, and strengthen critical transportation connections for generations to come. My sincere thanks to the entire Township Leadership team, Randee Mazur, and the residents of Bristol Township for their continued partnership-I look forward to carrying this momentum forward as we work to build safer, stronger, better-connected Bristol Township." said Fitzpatrick.
