WASHINGTON - Today, Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) issued the following statement after voting for the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia Act of 2026:
"Russia's aggression cannot continue without consequences, and those helping sustain Putin's war machine should face meaningful costs. This legislation gives the United States stronger leverage against Russia and those enabling its war. At the same time, tariffs of this magnitude can have consequences beyond our adversaries, reaching American manufacturers, farmers, small businesses, and families.
"That reality should not prevent us from acting. Failing to confront Russia's aggression carries costs of its own-for our national security, global stability, and our economy-and those costs will only grow if we allow that aggression to continue unchecked. But it does require transparency, discipline, and a clear strategy to ensure any costs borne by Americans are tied to well-defined national security objectives. I supported this legislation because the stakes are too high to stand still, and I will continue advocating for a transparent, disciplined approach to implementing these authorities."
