City's IT director dies at 40

Ryan Moore, director of Information Technology for the City of Taylor, for almost four years, passed away earlier this week in his home in Monroe. Mr. Moore was 40.

When Mr. Moore did not report to work and colleagues were unable to reach him by phone, authorities did a wellness check on his home and found that he had passed away. Further details were unavailable, although no foul play was suspected.

According to family members, Mr. Moore grew up in Flat Rock. He eventually spent a decade working in IT for the Senior Alliance, an organization that offers a large number of services for the elderly included care management, support, health and wellness, information and assistance, etc.

Mr. Moore's earlier work experience included roles at Allscripts and the Grosse Ile Township Schools. Additionally, he worked as a network technician for iSteris, supporting small businesses with Windows 2003 Active Directory networks.

During his time with the Senior Alliance, Mr. Moore crossed paths with Mayor Tim Woolley. When the mayor was elected in 2021, he eventually hired Mr. Moore to lead the IT department. During his time with the City, Mr. Moore aided in the expansion and modernization of the IT group.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Ryan's family," Mayor Woolley said. "He was an important part of our team and will be greatly missed."

Mr. Moore is survived by his sister and her family. As more information becomes available, this post will be updated.
