The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) is proud to continue its partnership with the Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind (CSDB) through the school's annual CSPD vs. CSDB Goalball Game on Monday, November 9, 2026.
The friendly competition will take place from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. in the CSDB gym, located at 33 North Institute Street.
While CSPD may not have the strongest record on the goalball court, the annual event has become an opportunity for officers and students to connect, compete, and build relationships outside of traditional law enforcement settings.
For those not familiar, Goalball challenges players to rely on sound, communication, teamwork, and awareness rather than sight. CSPD participants will once again put on blackout goggles and take the court against CSDB's experienced athletes.
This year's event will also extend beyond the competition. CSPD will donate two goalballs and 12 blackout goggles to CSDB through the Peyton Manning PeyBack Foundation, providing additional equipment students can use to continue developing their skills and participating in the sport.
Prior to the game, CSPD Chief of Police or members of the department's command staff will provide opening remarks and recognize two CSDB seniors with commemorative CSPD challenge coins.
The annual event reflects CSPD's commitment to building meaningful relationships throughout Colorado Springs and finding opportunities to engage with community members in positive and lasting ways.
Through partnerships such as the one with CSDB, CSPD officers have the opportunity to learn from the people they serve while supporting programs that encourage teamwork, inclusion, confidence, and connection.
