GREENSBORO, NC (June 29, 2026) - A 3-year-old child has died from injuries sustained in a crash Friday that also injured another young child and their mother.
Greensboro Police, Greensboro Fire, and Guilford County EMS responded at approximately 12:22 p.m. Friday to Interstate 73 North, near Mile Marker 98, for a single-vehicle crash with injuries.
Annie Roberts, 31, of Tennessee, was driving her Honda Odyssey north on I-73 with her children, ages 3 and 5, when the vehicle left the roadway to the right and collided with the sound barrier wall. She was wearing her seatbelt, and both children were in child restraint systems.
Roberts and her 5-year-old child suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and were taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
Her 3-year-old child, who was transported with life-threatening injuries, died Saturday from those injuries.
Driver fatigue is believed to be a factor in this crash. Roberts has been charged with failing to maintain lane control and misdemeanor death by vehicle.
The Greensboro Police Department's Crash Reconstruction Unit responded and is investigating.
